I Holiday Fun
There is no better time to gather and tipple than the holidays and the Royale is the perfect destination for such conversation. And a cocktail is the perfect celebratory reward for being boxed in with relatives all day.
The Royale will be open on Thursday night at 8pm for post turkey digestion and open regular hours the rest of the week. Please stop down for a sip.
And for the fun this weekend. This Saturday night we are having a DJ scramble- this is a relatively new concept of a record spin. The heavy record geeks should love this. We take the top DJs from the Royale and around town, bring them together for a group spin. Each DJ brings in 30 records and then they spin- using the other DJs records only. Only the finest DJs are able to hang for such a spin, and it is always fun to see how resourceful they can be. This spin will start early at around 8pm.
Up for this run of the DJ Scramble this Saturday night:
DJ Akita Thomas Crone- music guru, 52nd City founder, former RFT Music Editor, former STLtoday.com editor, Publisher of Silver Tray Zine and owner of a mean left hook
DJ Toby Hicks- Royale regular DJ, founder of Flyhomesmart marketing, former writer for STLtoday, Royale bartender and general sh*t disturber
DJ Robert Griffin- Owner of Scat Records, member of the legendary Prisonshake and the deep knowledge of the roots of indie rock
DJ Mark Early- one of the founding Royale DJs with Tuesday is the new Weekend and Friday is the new Tuesday, and has added some of the most diverse and interesting soundtracks for the Royale
II Dining out for Life
From the peeps who are organizing:
Please join Rob Thurman & Joyce Gorrell at The Royale Food & Spirits on Tuesday, November 27th for an evening of food, friends and fun. We are hosting from 6:30 – 9 PM but the party usually extends as needed to encompass the generous crowd. AND don’t forget to come for the AMAZING CHOCOLATE BOURBON PECAN PIE (details below).
Dining Out for Life is the premier fundraiser for Saint Louis EFFORT FOR AIDS and The Royale Food & Spirits will be donating 25% of your bill to this worthy organization! Saint Louis EFFORT FOR AIDS provides education of prevention of HIV infection and comprehensive support services to those affected by HIV/AIDS.
THE CHOCOLATE BOURBON PECAN PIES ARE MAKING A HOMEMADE AND DELICIOUS RETURN FOR THIS IMPORTANT NIGHT OF FUND RAISING AND CAMARADERIE. Rob & I are happy to take your advanced request for either a whole pie ($30 each) or a mini pie ($10 each). You can simply give us your donation of $30 or $10 and pick your pies up at The Royale the night of the event. We heard from multiple folks last year that these were the best bourbon pecan pies they had ever tasted! And we sold out of them which is a good thing for the cause. We can accept cash, checks payable to St. Louis Effort for Aids, or credit card. ALL PROCEEDS GO TO ST. LOUIS EFFORT FOR AIDS. [photos attached]
To order a pie in advance just drop an email to delphine707@yahoo.com with your name, quantity of pie you want to grub on and we’ll handle the rest. We will plan on bringing extra pie the night of the event as well
Dinner reservations are not required.

III Free drink trivia
There is still some contention on the last question- and I have the copy of Escape from NY on my Netflix to double check. The question was where was Brain’s Fortress in Escape from NY? I am almost sure it is the Scottish Rite, but I might be wrong. I will advise on confirmed information soon!
This week’s question: What is the name of the Brewery that was located at Iowa and Cherokee? The brewery was located there prior to prohibition.
Happy T-day!
