Royale Update

Cold weather means you need drinks that warm you up!

This weekend we will be offering hot cider with tuaca to warm those chilled bones.

I need to amp up the trivia this week due to the number of people who scored correct answers to last week’s triva. Answer to last week and this week’s question at the end of this message.

I Events
Last week was jumping for the holidays, and now that the season is in gear, there is even more reason for cheer. This holiday season is better yet with a few great events coming up at the Royale. We have Linn Jazz Trio, Cownvis Presely and Dan Potthast and even more.

The big event this next week on Dec 7 is a benefit for Christmas in Darfur, a project for a documentary on Sudan. Two young men from Chicago will be travelling through Chad and into Sudan to report on the ongoing genocide in the region. We will have a plethora of specials with monies going to benefit the documentary and Reporters without Borders. This is a very worthy project and I hope that you can stop in to dine and support this project on Thursday December 7th. Mark Early will be spinning along with Mister Mojica, Mister Toon and Mister Gaynor. This will be Mark Early’s last spin for a while as he will be taking a sabbatical from his wonderful DJ spin run at the Royale.

Also- keep in mind that Linn featuring Jessica Butler will be performing on Wednesday Dec 13 and Dan Potthast on December 30th. All shows are free!

II Specials

Well we are going to be phasing in some new beers over the next month to round out our winter beer selection. This week we have introduced the Saint Peter’s English Porter. It is very tasty. A lighter porter and very smooth. The English Ale of Saint Pete’s that we keep is also very tasty. A bit pricier than most, but it is a larger bottle and dern it is good.

We have the two martinin lunch in full effect until 4pm, with the Vodka Royale, the River DesPeres and the Martini of the Day. And of course we have our happy hour specials of O’Fallon, Griesedieck and Schlafly for 2.50 and select half price appetizers.

And don’t forget our daily specials. We are running lunch and dinner specials every day. We have an outstanding Griesedieck Beer battered Tilapia sandwich on rye with mac’n cheese every Friday. Check out specials every day at: http://www.theroyale.com/blog/?cat=3

Every Sunday is Subcontinental Sundays with our signature Subcontinental of Bombay Sapphire, Cointreau, lime juice and… fresh cucumber juice. Mighty fine, on ice or up only for five bucks.

IV Free Drink Triva
Wow, last week had a ton of responses too. But Byron Kerman was the first to nab that question. Isaac Hayes charged across the Chain of Rocks Bridge. What a wonderful film, Escape from New York.

Thanks so much to Byron Kerman for his prompt correct answer. Props to the correct w/ P-bu with and explanation of Isaac Haye’s Scientology side, Brian Marston, Rich Quinn and Amy Harrison and a few others.

This week’s trivia:
This is a harder one that you can’t google. Gino, of Gino’s Lounge hosted Vernon Garrett in his blues performance last week in Pine Lawn. Gino brought Vernon Garrett to Saint Louis to the first time to which room in East Saint Louis in the 1960s?
